Amalgamate

'Amalgamate' is an animated short about a world where nature has taken over. It is a piece that relies heavily on the sound and visuals which pair to create feeling. I really wanted to experiment with building a wondrous world seen through the eyes of a man exploring it and to have that world come to life. It's more indirect storytelling was a purposeful choice that I made after watching and experiencing many stories that had the viewer learn about the world as they progressed throughout the piece, nothing was spoon fed and it let the viewer make up their own story behind the piece. This form of storytelling was a big influence.

In this piece I explored multiple techniques such as: modelling, texturing, world building, animating, editing, VFX, rendering, etc. I also used over 10 different programs in the course of putting it together while most of the work was done in Maya. This piece was insanely hard to put together but i am immensely proud of how much i have learnt in the course of making it.
