Sincerely, Mouse
Our highly visual and competitive society today has influenced us whether we realised it or not. We can become quick to judge and jump to conclusions based on external appearances, status, and achievements. However, what you see on the outside doesn't represent the whole person. People are worth more than what they can do for you and what they look like. Disguised innocently in a fairytale-esque story, my short film hopes to challenge and explore the various sides and receiving ends of this status quo.
In making this piece, I was influenced by children's fairy tales and stories. Especially in 2D animated form, such as Disney’s Snow White, these stories formed a big part of my childhood. I fell in love with the organic aesthetic of hand-drawn animation, with its many possibilities for the imagination to create. Though there was often a moral lesson to be learnt, they were enjoyable for children up to older audiences who could search for the deeper meaning if they chose to. I hope you can sympathize with the characters of ‘Sincerely, Mouse’, and take something away from it, whether joy or meaning.
